The APAG Visionary Award honors the most committed and exemplary administrative professionals within our Duke community.
Formed in 2021, the Administrative Professionals Affinity Group (APAG) brought Duke's administrative professionals together, especially during the challenging times of COVID. APAG's mascot, Akira the Lion, symbolizes the importance of making their voices heard. Together, Duke's administrative professionals will ROAR! They will advocate for their culture commitments: Put People First, Adapt to Improve, and Be Clear and Empower, as well as highlight the value their profession brings to both the Duke Health and University systems.
This prestigious award is presented to a dedicated Duke administrative professional who is an APAG member and who exemplifies devotion to their department's culture, supports fellow administrative professionals, shows exceptional character, and strives for professional growth within the organization.
Sharena was one of four finalists selected for the 2025 APAG Visionary Award. We at BIAC are proud of Sharena's dedication to her responsibilities while still managing to create such a positive atmosphere for all who work, visit, or participate in research at BIAC. We may be biased, but Sharena is one of the top in her field and her hard work is recognized by this award.
